Cloud Trading: Running EAs in the Cloud

Cloud trading refers to running an Expert Advisor or bot on infrastructure managed by a specialized provider, rather than renting and configuring a general-purpose VPS yourself. Some services offer ready-made MT4 or MT5 environments accessible through a simple web dashboard, sometimes bundled with monitoring, automatic restarts, or one-click EA deployment, so the trader doesn't have to touch Windows settings or Remote Desktop at all.

The practical difference from a self-managed VPS is the level of control you give up in exchange for convenience. On a standard VPS, you install and configure everything yourself, which means more setup work but full visibility into what's running and why. On a managed cloud trading service, much of that is handled behind the scenes, which is faster to get started with but means trusting the provider's infrastructure choices, update schedule, and security practices, since you have less direct access to the underlying machine.

Cloud trading tends to make more sense for traders running several accounts or several EAs at once, where the overhead of manually maintaining multiple VPS instances becomes a real time cost, or for those who value built-in redundancy and support over granular control. It tends to make less sense for someone running a single EA on a single account who is comfortable with basic VPS administration, since a standard VPS is usually cheaper and gives more flexibility to install other tools alongside the trading platform.

The tradeoffs to weigh honestly are cost at scale, since managed convenience is rarely the cheapest option, and dependence on a third party's uptime and security, since an outage or breach on their end affects every account they host. Neither approach changes the underlying performance of the strategy itself; both are just different ways of keeping it running continuously.
